Help to recover from trauma, phobias, anxiety and depression

Heal and recover: take control of your future.

Our experiences influence our behaviour and thought patterns. Even if you aren’t aware of specific experiences in your day-to-day life they will continue to be stored in your sub-conscious memory. Up to 99% of brain activity takes place in the subconscious mind, so it is essential to process any negative experiences so that you can move forward and create resilience.

Traumatic experiences can physically change your brain. New pathways and networks are developed as we experience trauma, both during and after the event – leaving you feeling anxious, ‘low’, angry or unable to ‘switch off’. ‘Neuroplasticity’ is the term given to the brain’s capacity to change and heal in response to personal experiences. You have the ability to take the steps necessary to heal and recover from trauma in three simple stages…

"After the sessions I felt like my old self again, or even I better version of myself as I knew I was strong enough to come through it all, which is the most amazing feeling I have ever had. Getting home and no longer feeling anxiety or dread and the trauma memories very much a thing of the past was utter relief. Very much a life changing moment for me. I have got my calm back which has been missing for a long time. I cannot thank Gemma enough for the work she did over our sessions."

One: Acknowledge the problem.
Two: Process the problem.
Three: Move on.

By acknowledging and processing traumatic experiences

you will be able to integrate your negative experiences in a healthy way that allows you to move forward with your life. Working through these three stages of healing will activate your natural ability to heal and resolve your symptoms. Just by reaching out to make contact with me is the start of the difficult first stage of ‘acknowledging that there is a problem’.

The issues that I work with are often complex. Below are details of the most common problems that I have experience of treating:

"I often think about your sessions and the experiences I went through this past year, both for better and worse. Your work with me was pivotal to put me back on the path of being ‘me’ and it was a life raft that I clung to in the midst of the most confusing and turbulent storm I’d ever been in. So, thank you. Really, truly, thank you. I am equally stunned and grateful that such big changes happened for me and it doesn’t bare thinking where I would be without our sessions. I wish you all the best and I have shouted your name from the rooftop any time someone mentions struggling with their birth or parenting experiences. You should know how amazing you are and how many lives you have, and will, deeply change."

"I didn’t think my trauma was traumatic enough to contact Gemma, I thought I could just get on with it. During our first appointment I realised how bad I had been feeling and that the feelings of failure, anxiety and shame were unavoidable. Since our sessions, I feel like a huge cloud has lifted from me, my heart doesn’t constantly race and I’m not just trying to get through the days. I’m now able to love my life, myself and my daughter the way that I had always imagined it would be. I can’t thank Gemma enough for bringing me back to myself when I didn’t even realise that I had lost myself."

“I felt constantly on edge, restless, panicy, jumpy, flashbacks, negative thought patterns, helpless, overwhelmed, guilty, hopeless, a failure. I felt that Gemma really listened and validated my feelings. She made me realise my feelings and thoughts were not ‘me’ rather a symptom of what had happened. The next day I feel such a relief and slept really well and woke feeling rested for the first time in ages. I feel overall much calmer and positive. Amazing!! It was all personalised, unhurried, It worked!!! So glad I found out about this and just wish I had done it sooner. Thanks so much Gemma!”

Integrated, personalised treatment

It is important to understand that trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety and other forms of mental distress are a normal reaction to abnormal events. But it is essential to process what has happened to you so that you can move on.

Your treatment will be personalised to address your individual experience and meet your needs – there is no ‘one size fits all’. I provide a complete, bespoke package that is unique to you. My methods are powerful and highly effective – on average only three sessions are needed for you to feel relief and completely recover.

I combine my experience as a therapist with research-based, cutting-edge cognitive neuroscience and mental health therapy to provide integrated treatment that is tailored to each client that I work with. Below are details of some of the powerful techniques that I use.

Neuro linguistic programming (NLP) is used to understand how you think, feel and make sense of your personal experiences. NLP techniques are fast and efficient at addressing trauma, negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs. As well as being used in a therapeutic context, NLP is also used for personal development and success coaching.

Brain working recursive therapy (BWRT®) is unlike any other therapy you might have heard about using the latest discoveries in neuroscience coupled with your own unique brain process to help you get better. It is designed to quickly and permanently change the way your brain reacts to certain stressors. Client have previously completely cured and recovered from phobias, fear, addictions and anxieties in just one session. Find out more here.

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) facilitates the process of resolving traumatic memories and negative beliefs so that they are reformulated and physiological distress is reduced. EMDR stimulates and accelerates the intellectual and emotional processes involved in the natural healing process so that the memory and meaning of a traumatic experience is transformed on an emotional level.

Birth Trauma Resolution (BTR) is a specialist training accredited by the Royal College of Midwives and Human Givens Institute of psychotherapy. BTR is solution-focused therapy that acknowledges and validates your experiences whilst equipping you with tools and techniques that allow you to heal, recover and move forward.

Hypnotherapy is a listening and talking therapy that can create ‘emotional distance’ with your traumatic experience. It is tailored to your individual experiences, symptoms and specific desired outcome. Through deep relaxation and guided use of memory and imagination you can create a state of focused attention that will enable you to positively engage and shape change within your thinking and behaviour to achieve realistic goals.

Personalised meditation and hypnosis will provide you with powerful techniques that will help you achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state, alter negative patterns of thinking, improve sleep and boost energy. You can also build these practices into your self-care routine so that you can continue to create positive change in your life.

Intuition – intuition, awareness, empathy and understanding play a huge role within my work. I draw on my wealth of experience supporting individuals and families at their most vulnerable and treating hundreds of men, women and young people to overcome trauma, phobias, PTSD and other forms of mental distress.

“I feel calmer, stronger, more capable. I hadn’t realised how unhappy I was when I woke up in the morning until that was taken away. It really worked well for me- there was a bus door to door, so the location was super convenient. The space was calm and clear. I hadn’t expected the results to be so instant- but if I’d known that in advance I don’t think it would have changed anything, except maybe made me more anxious in case it didn’t work. Thank you so much for helping- it has been a game changer for me”

“The sessions were hugely beneficial to my emotional health and wellbeing. Gemma really helped me to understand the symptoms and reasons for my PTSD. She helped me feel relaxed and comfortable to share my experience. I could not believe the difference I felt after 2 sessions. Just a huge thank you! I thought this was something I would have to manage and get used to. I didn’t even realise the extent to which my PTSD had filtered into parts of my life. I cannot believe the difference. Thank you! I really hope you are able to expand and help women. ”

“I loved that I felt I could be completely honest about my thoughts and feelings and get a straight, unbiased yet compassionate and honest response back. We would like to say thank you for giving us the chance to meet with you again as it helped us both greatly in grieving for Lola’s death. It’s hard to put down in words at how lucky and grateful we are to have taken part in your workshop as we have no doubt that it has influenced our ability to grieve for Lola and allowed us to express the joy she has given us in both past, present and future.” It was all personalised, unhurried, It worked!!! So glad I found out about this and just wish I had done it sooner. Thanks so much Gemma!”
